Pick a Winner!

One of the things I have always liked to do when teaching was working with the kids on a poetry unit. It was always amazing at how creative they could be when they tried! Through the years I have written poems for special occasions and special people. Even though I don’t teach now, I still like to dibble at writing. I had ordered some books about writing (yes, even though I don’t need it for school, I wanted it for me!) Bill looked at them and got into the mood to write – a poem no less!
I’m going to post the one he wrote as well as the one I wrote today. We’ll let you pick a winner. :):):)

Bill’s creativeness:

My loving husband is a big, fat jerk
He really is a no good lazy lurk
If it’s anything hard, he will always shirk
He has never done any kind of work

I do not agree with Bill’s interpretation of himself - except maybe he will shirk hard work if he can!!!

Sue’s creativeness:

Clouds and wind, with the sun beaming through
Makes a perfect day for me and you
On the beach we will always enjoy
Memories forever, not to be destroyed

On a more serious note, Bill really can write and has penned several articles for historical books and magazines. I have also had one of my poems published which some of you have been voting for on poetry.com. The poem “The Tears in His Eyes” was inspired by a veteran who had tears running down his cheek after the 9/11 catastrophe.
In some ways, I think we will always have that “teacher” part of us that will cause us to write – whether it serious writing or not - only time will tell!
