I love making gifts - crocheted, cross-stitch, beading, sewing, baking, wood crafts, and I could probably go on with things I have made through the years. The making of the gifts came about because I loved making things with my hands. This is a gift that both Mom and Dad have had throughout the years. Both of them have made things and given them to many people (family, friends, and friends of friends). The recipients were appreciative of the gift and the effort put into making it. I always pray when making the gift that whomever it is being made for will get some joy and use for it. Now that Bill and I have retired, there is some time for both of us to be creatively crafty!
We recently had a contest on the blog to try and see how many read it and basically if we (I) needed to continue writing. Thanks to the number of responses, the blog will be continued. We had decided that we would be sending a homemade gift, but it would depend on who the winner was as to what that gift would be! I had visions of making hats, scarves, necklaces, earrings, tissue holders, dollies, a wood craft, picture album, and again the list could keep going. I waited until a winner was chosen to make the final decision as to what I would make, or that Bill might make. Michael Joe and David would have looked really cute wearing a pair of earrings had that been the prize already made up for the winner.
Ruthie – Jeni’s sister was the latest winner – and I decided to make a set of earrings and a matching necklace I hadn’t tried before – the difficulty level was up a notch from the ones I had been making!! I dug through my cache of beads to find what I needed – that’s the hardest parts – choosing just the right beads!!! Here are a few pictures showing the makings of Ruthie’s gift! Hope you enjoy them!

Placing a bead on an eye hook - and then I had to make an eye on the other end!
Using one of my tools to twist the wire to make the eye, then cut away the excess wire.
Four individual beads made with an eye on both ends - four more to go!
A chain was cut to form two four inch sections and an extension was prepared as well.
The beginning assembly of the necklace - connecting sections to the silver rings.

The earrings
The necklace!

The set! The extension with a bead at the end!
Hopefully, both Bill and I will continue being creatively creatively!
