Weather wise - it has been a wild week. We have experienced sunny days, rain, sleet, ice, and snow. This is the first full week the schools have been closed for the entire week since (if my memory serves me correctly) the late 70's!! Kids and teachers are enjoying the unexpected break, but I'm sure there are a lot of parents who are READY for the kids to get back in school! Next week's forecast may give the school system more days away from the classroom!
Granted, the amount of snow fall may not be as deep as some of our family and friends from the North are experiencing, but the ice storm has played havoc on the region. Thousands of people in the Tri-state area have NO electric and may not get it back on until next week - when more bad weather is predicted! The heavy weight of the snow/ice on the FLAT roofs and electrical wires have played a major role in the decision for schools not being in session!
We have been fortunate in that we do have electric, but my two brothers have not been as fortunate. Dink and Rhonda have been without electricity since Tuesday and are still waiting for it to be turned back on! Mike and Debbie do not have complete power. They can not run the furnace that needs the use of the 220. Both have turned to a backup heating source! We have our kerosene heater ready- just in case we need it!
The following pictures depicts some of what we have experienced this past week - especially poor little Toby - he DOES NOT like this weather at all! :(
The sun did shine this week!
Looking towards our neighbor's with some snow already on the ground!
Snow laying heavily on our pines in the back yard, and it's still snowing!

Looking off from the carport - notice the water where the rain was melting the snow on the ground!

Bill took a picture of the hillside with the ice on the trees!
It is pretty to look at, but those branches started popping canons - bringing down lines all across the region!
I cropped the picture above so you coud really see the ice on the trees!
Our frozen front yard and ice on the maples!
Our frozen "Toby" flag!
Looking at all the snow out back!
Toby HAD to go out!!!!!
Bill said Jesus walked on the water - Toby is walking ON the snow - 22 pounds did not break through the snow!
Notice the tracks from the day before - frozen and it was hard for Toby (and us) to walk on!

Dad leading the way!
