Another day has past me by and another will soon come to an end. My how fast they seem to fly by when you get older! Yesterday I turned a year older and it was one of the saddest but nicest birthdays I've had! It was sad because of John's passing. The nicest part was all the birthday wishes I got through out the day. It began with a call from Laurie - who I know misses John so very much - then a call from Darcie who was waiting to go have a treatment on her neck. They both took time out to try and help ME have a happy birthday. The next call came from Mom who serenaded me with the birthday song over the phone. This was so precious - you could hear the joy in her voice as she sang it to me!
I received birthday wishes from Dawn, Linnie, Darcie, Laurie, Amy, Sharon, Ruthie, Carol, Heather, Kim, Sandy, Krista, Bill, Betty, Aunt Olive, and Sherry from the internet via e-mails, Facebook, MySpace, and our blog. The mail brought me a card from David and Jeni - it was so cute! They also called me later in the evening to wish me a happy birthday!
Rhonda (and Dink), Patti (and Donna and Calvin), and Linnie (and Jena) called to say happy birthday. Linnnie and Jena also sang Happy Birthday to me! I also got birthday wishes from Mike, Billy, and Jamie who were at Mom's when I was talking with her! It warms my heart so much to have so many of my loved one - family and friends - to try and help me through my first birthday without John. They all helped me have a good day!
Bill did his best to help the cause as well. It began with me opening my presents! I had been coming home from Mom's talking about what a great time I had been having with the kids playing on their Wii. He said I sounded so excited about the game, he knew what he wanted to get me! He got online and found one - cheaper than going into the store - ordered it and some games for me. WOW - I mean Wii! We bowled last night and had a blast. I think I'm going to have to ban him from the game though - he beat me two out of three games!!!! :):)
He also ordered the Wii Fit which will be good for both of us! As time goes on we may give you some updates on our progress with the games and the exercising! Having seen this game on TV I couldn't imagine how you could have fun waving your arm towards the TV. Trust me - it is a blast. Watching the kids play at Mom's has brought so much laughter back into the house. The game is so real looking that when you bowl and the 10 pin doesn't fall you stomp your foot to try and jar it down! Bill got so tickled when I would do that when playing here last night! We are going to have a great time with my birthday present. This would be a great family game!
Now the Wii present was wonderful and is going to give us both so much enjoyment! I also received another present - not wrapped but in a envelpoe - tickets. Tickets to get ot go see one of my favorite groups - Celtic Woman - who has started a new tour called "Isle of Hope." Bill knows how much I love "my" Celtic groups. The concert will be in Columbus on February 27 - can't wait!!!
He also prepared breakfast for me and carried it to me on a tray! Now Toby was trying to figure out what was going on - Dad was waiting on Mom - is Dad sick? He was also a little cautious when we were playing the game. He could see the shadows of us swinging our arms towards the TV and it might have scared him just a little. His ears stayed up as if he were on guard and he was going to be ready to run!!! He finally settled down some and laid on the couch out of harm's way!
The anxiety I felt leading up to yesterday was enormous - I couldn't sleep, had a short fuse, and was crying a lot. Had I JUST remembered that I was never alone. That God would help me make it through the day and that everything will be alright. I knew HE was with me, but sometimes it is hard to turn all our worries, fears, and anxieties over. I have always tried to fix what was wrong - can't do that without God's help!
So I need to remember the following:
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you where ever you go."
Joshua 1:5
We hope and pray that all of you have a great weekend free of anxiety, stress, and any other problems. Remember - we are never alone!
Thanks to everyone who made my day a good day - especially you Bill!

That first look at the camera reminds me of days gone by. I have seen those looks before. I would like to be a mouse in your house while you all are playing wii. That is what the kids got for Christmas and I agree with you, it is lots of fun. I am glad that your birthday went well.
