When the unexpected happens, sometimes we are at a loss for words. Then our emotions tend to kick in gear and we go through a wide range of emotions: disbelief, devastated, hurt, anger, thankfulness, and appreciation to name a few. My niece, Meghan, and her fiance are going through this now!
Friday night while they were both away from the house they rented, fire destroyed the house and between the fire, heat, smoke, and water they lost virtually everything they owned. We thank God they were not injured, but understand the devastation they feel. They are still in disbelief as if this were a bad dream and they haven't woken up from it!!! But sadly, it is not a dream , but reality.
If you follow this link - http://www.herald-dispatch.com/news/briefs/x332194107/Fire-destroys-house-in-Huntington?i=0 - you will see pictures from the local paper showing the house as well as Grant, his mother, and a fireman taking their dogs away from the house. The dogs were in the back yard - away from the fire, but their cat was trapped inside. Sadly she did not make it out of the house due to smoke inhalation.
We all just can't believe this happened. From initial reports it appears someone started a fire on their front porch. It is an on-going investigation by the Police and Fire-Marshall.
They both have been astounded and humbled by the outpouring prayers, love, support, and aide that have been coming their way. Between family, friends, and the Red Cross, they now have the necessities, clothes, and a place to lay their head at night!
The outpouring support and offers to help has been nonstop since their family and friends have heard of what happened. They are so appreciative of the love and support which has been offered. They themselves are one of the first to offer help to others who might need it, but it is hard for them to say they need help. But it is okay to say, I need help!!!! This is what being part of a loving family with loads of friends is all about. God wants us to help -whether we know them or not!
As they days move forward, this experience will soon turn into a very bad nightmare, but will be less devastating when they realize the amount of love and support they are receiving! We love you Meghan and Grant, and you will never be alone!!!!
